Sara Rea is an award-winning executive producer who has been creating groundbreaking television and documentaries for over 20 years. She developed a passion for writing, television and film that started at a very young age as she dreamed of creating stories that inspire and films that matter. Now, Rea is living that dream and plans to continue to do so because there is so much left to say.
Rea is the Head of Unscripted Television for Hello Sunshine, the production company to create and discover stories that celebrate and change the narrative for women. She is also the Executive Producer of the Amazon fashion reality series Making the Cut with Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn and produced ten seasons of the hit series Project Runway for Lifetime Television.
Under her leadership, Project Runway was nominated for ten Emmys, won the Emmy for best host, received multiple PGA nominations, and won a GLAAD Award. More importantly, the show also evolved into a series that promoted a message of acceptance and inclusivity. From including models of all sizes to having contestants and winners from all over the world, the show embraced and promoted individuality and diversity.
Rea has also produced Project Runway Junior, Threads and other reality series that give youth a voice and provide pathways and platforms for students to achieve their dreams. She has produced more than 10 nationally syndicated documentaries focusing on children’s issues, such as Autism, eating disorders, addiction, cutting and many more topics on social and emotional issues and has received multiple regional Emmy nominations and awards for her documentary work.
